The Wild and Scenic Film Festival Art Exhibition returns for its 5th year under the direction of the Nevada County Arts Council (NCArts). The festival itself is in its 14th year, and over 4,500 people attended last year's event. The Art Exhibition has grown each year as well, and last year over 50 artists were juried in, displaying works in 35 venues around Grass Valley and Nevada City. This year, to further enhance the festival experience for patrons and artists, work will be exhibited in only twelve of the highest quality Exhibition Venues and Galleries.
Judges for this year's Exhibition include artist/educator Donn Harris, Chairperson of the California Arts Council, as well as Linda Rachmel - artist, activist, health practitioner, and longtime supporter of SYRCL (South Yuba River Citizens League), the producer of the Wild and Scenic Film Festival. This year's theme for the Festival is A Change of Course.
Submission Categories
Artists can submit works for judging in three separate categories: 2-Dimensional; Photography; and 3-Dimensional. Judges will award prizes to the the top submissions in each category, as well as a prize for the Best Interpretation of Theme. Additionally, a special, separately-judgedl Student Category for submissions exists for artists age 19 or below.
Submission Fees
The regular submission fee is $30. Early bird submissions (submitted by September 18, 2015) are only $20. The regular submission deadline is October 16. Jurors will accept late submissions ($40) until the submission portal is removed on Novemer 1. Student submissions (age 19 or below) are $5.
